Job description:
Estim Construction Office in Dar Es Salaam is seeking a HVAC Project Engineer engineer who will be responsible for his area in MEP from Project Management, QA/QC, HSE, Engineering, Management, Innovation, Design, and dealing with external stakeholders.
Exp/Rel Exp: Minimum 8-10 years of relevant and hands on experience in building construction with an organisation of repute.
Key Duties/Responsibilities for the position:
Site Management
o Ensure all HVAC Works at our projects are on schedule as per project program
o Ensure we have resource adequacy and efficiency on the project
o Ensure site team is functioning well and productivity is as per expectations
o Talk to team members to identify issues affecting progress on site and find solutions to these issues.
o Undertaking planning for new projects regarding resources, procurement, methodology etc.
o Ensure subcontractors are performing as required and sufficient labour is available on site
o Ensure procurement schedules are completed accurately and procurement is as per site requirements and liaise with the procurement department.
o Ensure reporting structures are in place and adhered to for information to Head Office
o Deal with any site issues incl. coordination, drawing review
o Ensure drawing reviews are completed in advance and any RFI’s are raised prior to having an effect on site
QA/QC
o Set up the company wide standard QA/QC Document control system to ISO 9001 standards in the long term (1-2 years)
o Ensure the works are being completed as per international standards and our expected levels of quality
o Ensure sufficient systems and processes are in place for quality to be maintained
o Ensure site team is competent and trained to complete works to our standards. If not, identify training requirements to improve our standards.
o All MEP testing procedures should be completed as per British Standard methods and frequency with clear recording keeping procedure.
o Commissioning on all projects to be completed as per our commissioning plan.
o Ensure Document control receive all QA/QC documentation.
HSE
o Safety is a priority at Estim. Ensure safety standards are met for all works conducted
o Complete Risk Assessments for high risk activities
o Ensure standardised method statements are created and followed
Engineering
o Ensure sound engineering principles are being applied to all works
o Deal with any technical or engineering concerns as they arise
o Ensure all works are completed as per required standards
o Ensure sufficient technical information is available to the department
o Ensure all reporting staff uses engineering principles in operations.
Management
o Ensure all team members are performing to the best of their ability
o Ensure all team members are given sufficient tasks and that the tasks are being completed as required
o Identify any training needs for the staff
o Mentor and manage team members
o Reinforce our company values daily to the team members.
Innovation
o Always try to improve the organisation and department every single day
o Challenge the Status Quo and identify way to innovate
o Keep up to date with new technology, processes and engineering knowledge
Design
o Provide a input at design stage on the basis of previous jobs and engineering knowledge to provide a value engineered solution to the client
o Review design drawings for practicality and value engineering
o Identify any omissions or errors at the design stage
Dealing with External Stakeholders
o Maintain a professional image with all external stakeholders and reflect our company values
o Liaise with consultants and clients for RFI’s, RFA’s and any other information
o Attend meetings and represent the company in a professional manner
o Liaise with potential suppliers for information and procurement for specialist purchasing.
